The Original Ice Cream Addict

Writer: icecreamaddicticecreamaddict

Many of you might be wondering, where did my love for ice cream come from? I like to think that loving ice cream is in my blood. I think it's time that I introduce you to the original ice cream addict. The person who really started this all and has taught me everything I know. That person is Grandma Gigi.

 Who is Grandma Gigi?

Grandma Gigi is my dad's mom and as a mom to all boys, she's a tough lady. She is super spunky and sarcastic, but also the most loving person you will ever meet. Most grandma's always make sure that their kitchen has fresh cookies in it, but not my grandma. She always had the freezer stocked with ice cream of all sorts.

She is the grandparent that I'm probably the closest to, and I think our mutual love for ice cream has something to do with that. I should say our mutual love for orange creamies bars. I would usually spend a couple weeks at her house during the summer and I loved every second of it.

Why ice cream?

My grandma grew up in Texas which, as we all know, can be extremely hot in the summer time. When she was little her favorite treat was being able to go to the local soda fountain and getting a scoop of ice cream to help cool her down. And then a legend was born.

As she grew up grandma Gigi continued to feed her addiction to ice cream. Whenever she would travel she was always on the hunt for a good scoop of ice cream. That's something that I've tried to incorporate to my life as well. Not only do I get a good scoop of ice cream, but it's fun to see what each place I go to has to offer. One of our favorite places to go together is Handel's since they have such fun flavors!

Conclusion

I love my grandma Gigi and everything that she's taught me. What about you? Is there a family member that you look up to or have gotten a food addiction from? I want to hear about it and the fun traditions you have with your family!
