Having to host a party or casual get together can already be stressful, but then planning a menu on top of that? Don't worry, dessert is covered. Just read on to see how easy an ice cream bar can be, and who doesn't like ice cream?
1. Bowls
First things first is you need to decide what vessel you want your guests to be using when getting their ice cream together. The first option would be to have them use little ice cream dishes like this one from Amazon. They are simple, cute, and classy. They also offer more room for ice cream and toppings which is always a plus.
Another option would be to get edible waffle cone bowls. Yep that's right. Have your ice cream and the bowl too. This doesn't just add more flavor to everything, but then you also don't have any dishes to clean up. Sounds like a win win to me.
2. Ice cream Flavors
The thing about this dessert is that it is easy to have a variety of flavors to please a variety of people. When it comes to picking out flavors for a group of people, I think it is important to pick out three solid options. One chocolate, one fruity, and one sorbet (in case someone has a food allergy).
Some of my go to ice creams that fit these standards are Tillamook Mudslide, Dreyer's Strawberry, and any of the Talenti Sorbetto flavors. If you have a local ice cream shop that lets you buy pints or gallons at a time, that would also be a great option and it helps out your community!
3. Toppings
What better way for people to personalize their ice cream than with a variety of toppings. This is probably the part that you'll spend the most time on, but it'll be totally worth it! With toppings you can also go homemade or store bought, and I really don't think you can go wrong with either one. Personally, I love to go get a ton of different candies (think gummy bears, gummy worms, chocolate covered pretzels) and have those in individual bowls for people to add on top.
Another great option, depending on the season, is providing fresh fruit to go on top as well. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries are all great options. Even if fresh fruit isn't really in season, you can whip up a nice berry sauce using frozen fruit like this one.
There you have it! The checklist of all checklists for your next ice cream gathering. Let me know what you would choose and what you are wanting to try!
