That one time I made my own ice cream

Have you ever been so excited to make something and have it turn out to be a beautiful master piece? And then you make it and it ends up being a horrible mess? Same. Today I'll be telling you my total fail story which still haunts me to this day.

PART 1

So this story starts all the way back in my junior year of high school. I was in a chemistry class which was my least favorite class of all time. Even now I'm terrible at anything chemistry. But for the unit that we were working on, we had the opportunity to make our own ice cream. I still couldn't tell you today what chemistry topic we were learning, the only thing I was interested in was the ice cream.

It was a classic make your own ice cream in a plastic bag with some ice and rock salt. No ice cream churn for us. We had brought in a ton of ingredients and supplies and all of us couldn't wait to get to make our ice cream.

PART 2

We went out side to get everything mixed together so we wouldn't have to clean up inside and because we were going to need some room to mix everything together. Then one by one we each got our two bags, one for the ice and the other for all of our ice cream ingredients. We measured out the milk, half and half, and sugar and waiting to put in any of the flavoring. Then we got our ice bags filled with ice and poured in a lot of salt to help with our delicious chemical reaction.

So there we were, sitting out in the sun shaking our bags of milk trying to get ice cream. It doesn't take too long if you add plenty of salt which is really nice. A little while later the soft serve ice cream was made and it was time to add in some flavoring.

PART 3

Now I love vanilla as much as the next gal, but have you every had something that was too vanilla? Well my ice cream turned out to be just that. I was eyeballing my measurement of the vanilla extract and way over estimated how much I would need. Let's just say my ice cream went from milky white to slightly brown. It was hands down the worst thing that I have ever tasted.

When the other classmates tried my ice cream they had to spit it out, and I don't blame them. It was so so bitter and just ruined your taste buds. I've never looked at vanilla ice cream the same after that fateful day in 11th grade.

Conclusion

So that's it. The time that I managed to ruin one of the most perfect things that we have. Ice cream. After that I learned that it's just better to make sure to use the measuring spoons, and to remember that a little goes a long way.
